CAT asks Odisha Govt not to take strict action against Satish Gajbhiye

Bhubaneswar, Nov 16: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) directed Odisha government not to take stern action against Satish Gajbhiye, former Superintendent of Police (SP). CAT also said to maintain the directive until fresh notification is issued further.

This directive is said to be a major embarrassment for the state government which suspended SP Satish Gajbhiye on August 13 following his stern action against agitators in Kendrapara on August 7.  And, November 6, the state government has extended the suspension by six months. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting by the Chief Secretary of Odisha on November 5.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik suspended SP Satish Gajbhiye for using excessive force against the demonstrators in the town during the agitation against Sarathi Baba. He was also found guilty of showing inappropriate behaviour towards the citizens and breaking All India Services Code by raising controversial maters on social media.
