Central Meet on Mining Regulations to be held on Friday

The Coordination-cum-Empowered Committee (CCEC) on Mineral Development and Regulation will meet on Friday at New Delhi to discuss over the issues on e-auction of mineral blocks, offshore mining and exploration plans of the States.

The CCEC will also discuss about the revised draft of Offshore Area Mineral Concession Rules, 2016 which is prepared by the Ministry of Mines as well as the draft of Mineral Conservation and Development Rules, 2016.

Twelve mineral-bearing States including Odisha have been asked to take part in the meeting which will be chaired by the Union Mines Secretary.

In the meeting, the committee will focus on the stock of the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) which has been set up by the States as per Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kalyan Yojana, (PMKKY).

The block-wise status list which is prepared for e-auction by the State Government for the current and the next financial year will also be discussed.

The committee will also take stock of the saved mining lease applications which is made before January 11, 2017. The State governments have been asked to compile a list of cases which are pending for want of environment and forest clearances.
