The BPL card holders in Odisha, will be getting 5kg LPG connections without payment of security deposit (Rs 350) for cylinder and pressure regulator (Rs 150). People in other categories, will have to spend Rs 500 towards the initial purchase. The move is seen as a master stroke before Amit Shah’s mega rally tomorrow in Bhubaneswar.
While launching the 5kg LPG scheme in Odisha, Dharmendra Pradhan expressed hope that the move will benefit the poor women, as they have been exposed to various ailments by using other means of cooking.
The Minister, launched the expanded corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme to cover BPL families living in urban areas. The benefits of the scheme will be available till 31st March 2015. So, Dharmendra Pradhan urged the BPL card holders to avail of this opportunity without any delay.
The 5Kg LPG will also come as a boon for those people, such as students, temporary visitors or migrant workers who do not have address proof to apply for a regular LPG connection. The 5 Kg LPG cylinders under Free Trade LPG (FTL) scheme would be available at 9 retail outlets in Bhubaneswar and 4 retail outlets in Cuttack.
