College Lecturers protest at Raj Bhavan, Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: Demanding better facilities for the lecturers and teachers, the members of All India Federation of University & College Teachers’ Organisation (AIFUCTO) have protested today at Raj Bhavan here. The lectures of various government and non-government colleges have participated in the protest.

They will hand over a memorandum to Governor S.C. Jamir today addressing to the Union Human Resources Minister. They are demanding  the central government to form University Grants Commission – 2016 Committee, allocate 6% of the GDP to education sector, abolish Block Grant-in-Aid System in Odisha, Readership to all lecturers (State-Scale) upon completion of 23 years of service and revise salary structure.

They all demanded UGC-Scale for demonstrators, librarians and sport lectures working in Odisha and extend the retirement age to 65 years. They warned that they will organise ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ in New Delhi on November 24 if their demands are not fulfilled by then.
