Congress MLA, Dist BJP demand arrest of Parlakhemundi Maharaja’s Manager

Following the issue of Paralakhemundi Maharaja Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deb, who has been kept in captivity for over two years, the local Congress MLA K Surya Rao and district BJP President G Ravana staged hunger strike at the Palace demanding arrest of the king’s manager.

It is to be noted that, Parlakhemundi Maharaja Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deb has been kept in captivity for over two years by his lady manager and her brother.

Hundreds of local residents from Parlakhemundi, including leaders of various political parties thronged the Palace on Sunday and took stock of Maharaja’s health condition.

The younger brother of the king Sarbagyana Jagannath Gajapati Deb had alleged that manager Ananga Manjari Patra and his two brothers Sanjay Patra and Tulu Patra had put the Maharaja under house arrest.

Meanwhile, the king was taken to Vizag on Sunday and later shifted to Chennai for treatment.

Notably, Gopinath Gajapati, grandson of late Krushna Chandra Gajapati, was an MP from the Berhampur Lok Sabha seat twice (1989 and 1991) on Congress tickets.
