Contractual Nurses refuse to end stir; health services severely affected

ONI Bureau:  Health services in several government-run hospitals severely affected as over 2,000 contractual staff nurses, appointed under the National Health Mission (NHM) began cease-work agitation that have reached fifth day in a row.

They demanded of job regularisation, hike in salary and hike in Grade Pay.

Members of Odisha Nursing Employees Association staged demonstration near lower PMG square, however hundreds of SCB Hospital nurses staged dharna before the office of the hospital superintendant and 115 contractual nurses of Sishu Bhawan Cuttack stage dharna near Matron office.

Meantime,  Cease work stir is also in force at Burla based VSS Medical College and Hospital and MKCG Hospital in Berhampur.

The protesters said they will continue the stir till they get a written assurance from the government regarding fulfilment of their demands.
