Daruthenga Villagers defiant; BMC Mayor appeals for Calm

The situation remains tense on the third day on Saturday in Daruthenga village on the outskirts of the capital city as locals blocked the road by placing logs on the road protesting against garbage dumping in the area.

The dumping of the garbage in the area has been disrupted by the locals. They pelted stones at policemen on Friday and opposed the dumping of garbage by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) during the dumping of the waste materials near the place which is proposed for energy project.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Narayan Jena has appealed for peace and sought the support of the villagers till the new dumping yard starts its operation.
