Decision on re-opening of religious institutions soon: Odisha Law Minsiter

After the Orissa High Court threw the ball in State Government’s court, Law Minister Pratap Jena said a decision in this regard will be taken soon.

“After assessing the situation, we will soon take a decision on opening of temples. We will soon lay down the guidelines too,”

said Law Minister Pratap Jena.

The religious institutions will be re-opened in zones which have not been earmarked as containment zones.

The Court gave its decision while hearing a PIL filed by a devotee Trilochan Rath seeking immediate opening of Sri Jagannath Temple. In his petition filed on August 3, Rath had argued that there shouldn’t be any problem in opening religious places as the government has already opened commercial estblaishments.

The Centre had allowed opening of religious places from June 8, when the unlock phase one began. However, ths state government had disallowed public in places of worship till August 31.
