The high-level meeting of the Union Culture Ministry deliberated on the bi-centenary celebrations of Paika Bidroha (Paika Rebellion), Buddha Museum at Lalitgiri and renovation and repairing work of Shree Mandir Jagmohan.
Union Culture Minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma attended the meeting along with senior officials of his Ministry. Main focus of the meeting was to plan how the bi-centenary celebrations of Paika Rebellion will be held at the national and international levels.
Dharmendra Pradhan also confirmed that there was a discussion on constructing a huge statue of Baxi Jagabandhu at Barunei Hill in Khurda as a memorial. In addition, Paika Bidroha literature and currencies and stamps on this historic revolution, were also discussed in the meeting.
On setting up of a Buddha Museum in Lalitgiri, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, the relics of Lord Buddha, which are kept in a casket in Lalitgiri, will be placed at a Museum of international standard, which is in the pipeline. On the issue of Jagmohan repairing, he said ASI has informed him that work is going on under the supervision of Orissa High Court.
