ONI Bureau: The Union Government on Monday extended Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to provide free cooking gas (LPG) connections to all poor households.
As per the decision, now Universal PM Ujjwala Yojana is applicable to all ration card holders in the country.
Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan thanked the Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Narendra Modi for approving to expand the scope of PMUY to cover poor families not having LPG connections & not covered under the existing beneficiary categories.
The step will further increase the penetration of LPG to 100% households, the Petroleum Minister said.
“Massive growth of LPG consumers in the last 4.5 Years in Odisha. More than 35 Lakh PMUY connections have empowered & brought rural ease of living for poor women in the state”, Pradhan took the Twitter to share this information.
