Ex-AG Ashok Mohanty appears Before Court

Ashok Mohanty, Odisha’s former Advocate-General, appeared before the Special CBI court today in Bhubaneswar for alleged links with Artha Tatwa (AT) Group chief Pradeep Sethy. Mohanty appeared before the CBI Court for the first time after being summoned. On 26 September 2013, he was granted bail by a local court.

Hearing bail plea, the court directed Mohanty to co-operate with the investigating agency. The investigation agency arrested him on 22 September 2014, for his allegedly abusing his official position and misappropriating funds of AT Group.

Ashok Mohanty resigned from the post of advocate-general on 12 September 2013. Following directions from the Supreme Court, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the agency has been investigating into the multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha.
