Ex Bonei MLA Dayanidhi Kisan dies after Falling off Roof

Former BJP MLA from Bonei, Dayanidhi Kisan, met with a tragic accident this morning. He fell from the rooftop of his three-storied building in Rourkela and later succumbed to his injuries at the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in the Steel City.

Dayanidhi Kisan had gone to the roof for a routine exercise. His family members heard a loud noise and rushed to see him lying in a pool of blood with multiple injuries. He was taken to the IGH where he was admitted to the ICU, but died later. He was 64.

He had done B.Tech and worked as an Executive Engineer before joining politics. Although he was elected as a BJP MLA in 2000, he later joined the BJD and was nominated as the Rourkela Development Authority (RDA) to hold the post from 2010 to 2014. He contested the 2014 assembly polls from Bonei on a BJD ticket, but lost.

Dayanidhi Kisan’s last rites were performed at his village Nuapada, which falls under Bonei sub-division in Sundargarh district. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan has expressed deep sorrow on the sad demise of former MLA Dayanidhi Kisan.

The Union Minister remembered his relationship with Mr Kishan during their common stint as MLAs in Odisha Assembly from 2000 to 2004. Mr. Pradhan expressed his condolences to the grieved family members and prayed for peace of the departed soul.
