Farmers affected by Cyclone Phethai will be compensated: Odisha SRC

ONI Bureau:  As many districts in the Western and Southern region of Odisha have been experiencing heavy rainfall under the impact of Cyclone Phethai, standing paddy and cotton crops, stored on open fields have suffered the damage due to the rains.

Speaking to media at State Secretariat today, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi informed that the damage will be assessed by the Government. On the basis of the crop damage report, State Government will provide financial assistance to the affected farmers from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

While Jharsuguda has recorded 75.8 mm highest rainfall, Sambalpur has received 75.3 mm rain, Sundargarh 71.8 mm, Bargarh 71.5 mm, Deogarh 68.3 mm, and Subarnapur 67.7 mm.
