Flood scare in Villages in Odisha; Roads washed out

ONI Bureau:  While incessant rains have thrown normal life out of gear in several parts of Odisha, some of the areas in South and Western parts of Odisha are facing very dangerous situation.

Several villages in districts like Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada and Kalahandi district were worst affected as Flood-like situation prevailed in the regions.

As many as 40 villages cut off from the rest of Odisha following landslide at Raghubari ghat in Rayagada district due to heavy rain. Roads and bridges in several parts including Muniguda block has been washed away, as a result flood water flowing inside the residential areas.

Similar situation was seen in Malkangiri distict. Road communication to Mudulipada, Andarahal panchayats disrupted following heavy rains and landslide at Bonda ghat in Malkangiri dist. Malkangiri-Koraput road, Malkangiri-Kalimela road, Malkangiri-Balimela road, Chitrakonda and Mathili were disrupted due to incessant rains in the region.

Jaleshwar temple in Kalahandi district’s Bhawanipatna also submerged following heavy rains. Kalahandi-Rayagada, Narla road affected and in Boudh, Tel river is reportedly flowing above danger mark.

Two deaths have been reported from Kalahandi & Koraput district so far.
