Former Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar appointed amicus curiae for Puri Srimandir reforms

ONI Bureau:  The Supreme Court on Wednesday appointed advocate Ranjit Kumar as new amicus curiae to supervise reform measures at Puri Srimandir.

Ranjit Kumar is a senior advocate practising in the Apex Court. He is also the former Solicitor General of India.

The Supreme Court-appointed amicus curiae will hold discussions with Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Puri Shankaracharya and servitors over implementation of 12 proposals including queue system for devotees from the Srimandir entrance, end of donation system to priests, abolition of hereditary appointment of servitors and transparency in temple management.

Earlier on November 30 last year, Gopal Subramanium stepped down from his post.
