Giridhar Gamang files Case against 4 Congressmen for Effigy Burning

Former Odisha CM Giridhar Gamang, who recently joined the BJP, has filed a case against four Congress leaders in Jeypore for burning his effigy and photographs and trying to defame him in the public. “They tried to tarnish my image and malign me so that a negative perception against me is created in the minds of my people as well as the tribal community,” he said.

The Congress leaders, who are under the scanner, include Biswajit Dandasena (Vice President Youth Congress, Jeypore), Sukant Patnaik (President Youth Congress, Jeypore), Balaram Panigrahi and P Ramesh Rao.

Giridhar Gamang has sought arrest of the above people and urged the cops to slap sections as per the SC & ST Atrocities Act under Chapter II Offence of Atrocities (x) for causing him mental and psychological agony due to the incident.

The nine-time MP from Koraput, has expressed fear about his safety as well as that of his son Shishir Gamang. He demanded strong action against the culprits at the earliest. The Jeypore police is analysing the complaint and may take action following an investigation.
