Google can’t replace Guru: Vice Prez M Venkaiah Naidu

Insight Bureau: While speaking at the 13th Convocation of KIIT University in Bhubaneswar, Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu said that Google can do wonders, but can’t replace the Guru, who builds the career and life of students.

The Vice President also said, Mother, Mother tongue and Motherland are important for the citizens. He urged people of Odisha to talk in Odia language at home instead of other languages such as English so that their children realise the importance of mother tongue.

“There is nothing wrong in learning English, but one should be proficient and efficient in their own mother tongue too,” he added. He also sought to utilise education in such a manner that it fosters the much needed transformation, which is needed for peace and harmony as well as development.

Odisha Governor Dr. S.C. Jamir, was present at the convocation. KIIT University honoured three eminent personalities from different walks of life with D.Litt. Honoris Causa degrees – Dr. Bithal Das Mundhra, Chairman Emeritus, Simplex Infrastructures Ltd., Shri Kishanlal Agarwal, Chairman, Bhartia Charitable Trust and ‎Padma Vibhushan Shilpi Guru Dr. Raghunath Mohapatra, Eminent Sculptor.

Gold and Silver Medals were awarded to meritorious students in different fields.
