ONI Bureau: Graduate Constables & Criminal Intelligence Havildars of Odisha Police can now probe certain cases and make arrest of offenders.
A proposal in this regard given by DGP Dr. RP Sharma has been approved by the Odisha Government today. The Odisha Home department issued notification in this regard.
Expressing his satisfaction, RP Sharma said to presser that Graduate Constables & Havildars will probe offences under certain minor Acts having punishment up to 3 years like Juvenile Justice Act-2015, motor cycle theft, cases under Excise Act, The Odisha Prevention of Gambling Act-1955 etc.
It would help in prompt and quality investigation of cases and improve team spirit.
For smooth implementation of the order, 4 to 5 week institutional training at any recognized Police Training institutions will be given to the concerned personnel. After that they will get field training in the Police Station for a period of at least 45 days, Sharma said.
