Hirakud Dam closes all Gates today

The Hirakud Dam authorities on Monday closed all gates, which were opened to release flood water due to incessant rains in the upper reaches of Mahanadi from August 5.

The rain water is being released through the 17 sluice gates.

The water level now stands at 617.81 foot, whereas the water holding capacity of the reservoir is 630ft.
