Japanese Encephalitis toll mounts to 94 in Malkangiri Dist

The death toll due to the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) disease has reached to 94 in Malkangiri district of Odisha.

So far 505 villages in the tribal dominated Malkangiri have been affected with the virus.

Meanwhile, the six-member expert team led by Jacob John of Christian Medical College and Hospital in Vellore started an in-depth study on the disease.

Earlier, the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Authority has started training programme to provide vaccination in order to tackle JE in Odisha. But till now, State Government has not been able to control the disease.
