Khurda Surpasses Ganjam As Odisha Records Highest Single Day Surge of COVID-19 Cases

Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 cases in Odisha continue to surge every day. On August 6, the state recorded highest single day surge of 1833 positive cases. With 298 cases, Khurda district has surpassed Ganjam (279) with maximum number of positive cases. The tally in Odisha has now crossed 42,000 mark.

Meanwhile, 12 deaths due to COVID-19 has been recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total deaths in the state to 247. While three deaths each were reported from Sundargarh and Ganjam, one death each was reported from Mayurbhanj, Kendrapada, Sambalpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal and Gajapati.

A total of 16,055 samples were tested on Thursday. While out of the 1833 cases, 1118 cases emerged from quarantine, 715 were local contacts. The new recoveries stand at 1150.

With the latest figures, Odisha has 42,550 positive cases out of which 15,370 are active.
