KIIT Founder Achyuta Samanta’s Mother Neelimarani dies at 89

Renowned Educationist and founder of KIIT Group, Dr. Achyuta Samanta suffered a huge loss today, as his mother Smt. Neelimarani Samanta died at the age of 89. She breathed her last at the KIMS, Bhubaneswar.

Known as a leading social worker and religious lady, Neelimarani was highly popular in Raghunathpur area in Cuttack district. She contributed a lot to make her village Kalarbanka the first model village in the country in 2006.

The Neelimarani Charitable Trust, which was established on her name, has been actively working in Kalarbanka-Manapur area and set up various facilities, including a library, a primary health centre, a residential high school, an English Medium school, Temples etc. In addition, the trust took steps to set up branches of bank and post office and helped the villagers with installation of street lights, pond, road network and sanitation facilities.

Neelimarani lost her husband at the age of 40. She singlehandedly brought up her seven children despite all the odds. She had been staying with her daughter Dr. Iti Samanta. She complained of illness only on Monday and admitted to the KIMS. The doctors tried their best, but could not save her, as she departed for the heavenly abode.

Dr. Achyuta Samanta termed the demise of his mother as the biggest loss of his life and recalled the efforts and contribution of the departed soul in his growth. “My mother is no more with me from 10:30 this morning. I am sad and broken as she was everything to me after I lost my father when I was four,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
