His nephew Anirudha Patnaik and two daughters – Arjya Patnaik and Ananya Patnaik lit the funeral pyre this afternoon. Prior to that, his funeral procession was attended by almost all Ollywood personalities and fans.
The funeral process began at his residence in Bidanasi. His mortal remains were first taken to the office of Odisha Motion Pictures Technician and Workers’ Association (OMPTWA) en route to the crematorium. The procession also had a stoppage at the Annapurna Theatre, where Hara Patnaik began his acting career. His body was then taken to the Union Club, Police High School and then to the crematorium.
Ollywood Actors Anubhav, Sabyasachi and Pintu Nanda were among others who lifted the mortal remains of Hara Patnaik on their shoulders. The 56-year-old Odia cine legend was suffering from blood cancer in April 2008 and underwent frequent blood transfusions and bone marrow transplant during the treatment. Although he had recovered from the disease, it returned to haunt him again and claimed his life yesterday.
