Mahila Congress Workers hurl eggs at Pradeep Maharathy’s House

ONI Bureau:  The State Mahila Congress workers on Thursday hurled tomatoes & eggs at the official quarters of Odisha Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy in Bhubaneswar over his comments on Pipili Gang Rape incident.

Worth mentioning, a day after two accused in the 2011 gang rape and murder case of a 19-year-old girl in Pipili were acquitted by a court on Monday due to lack of evidence, Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy who had to quit from his minister post in 2012 based on allegations of shielding the accused, hailed the court’s verdict in the Pipili gang rape and murder case on Wednesday.

Hailing the court’s verdict, Maharathy asserted that truth has finally prevailed and victim got justice with the verdict.

However, the court’s verdict shocked the victim’s mother as she expected death penalty for the two brothers.
