Maoists back Damodar Rout; call him saviour of Tribals

ONI Bureau:  Beleaguered BJD veteran Dr. Damodar Rout, who is facing marginalization in his own party, has received support from an unexpected quarter, which won’t make him happy either.

The Maoist posters came up in Ambadala, Muniguda and Bisamcuttack areas of Rayagada district in his support, opposing CM’s action against him. The poster hailed Damodar Rout as the ‘God’ and ‘Leader’ of Tribals.

“Why action was taken against Damodar Rout, when corrupt politicians with chit fund links were let off,” the poster asked.

It can be recalled that Dr. Damodar Rout while attending the Malyabant Festival in Malkangiri, had called Brahmins ‘Beggars’ while praising the tribals for upholding their ethics and self-esteem. Following a massive outrage among Brahmin community over his remarks, the CM sacked him as a Minister and later relieved him as the Vice President of the party.
