Mission Indradhanush to cover 13 Districts in Odisha in 2nd Phase

Bhubaneswar, Sep 22: The second phase of Union Health Ministry’s flagship Mission Indradhanush will be implemented from October 7 covering 13 more districts in Odisha. The scheme was launched by Union Health Minister J.P Nadda on December 25, 2014. The mission aims to immunize all children against seven vaccine preventable diseases namely diphtheria, whooping cough (Pertussis), tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B by 2020.

In Odisha, 13 districts are selected for the implementation of second phase of the mission from October 7. And, the second phase of the mission will cover total 297 districts across India. The districts are – Bhadrak, Bargarh, Bolangir, Cuttack, Dhenknal, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Puri, Sambalpur and Sonepur.  Earlier, the mission was implemented in 10 districts of the state in the first phase. Union Health Minister J. P Nadda wrote letter to all chief ministers of states for their support and involvement to make the mission successful.
