Modi castigates Odisha Govt on Mahanadi Row

ONI Bureau:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed a public meeting at the historic Baliyatra ground in Cuttack as part of party’s Jana Kalyan Samavesh organised to mark fourth Anniversary celebrations of the BJP-led Government at the Centre.

Modi started his speech chanting Jai Jagannath. PM said Odisha ra moro priya bhai bhauni mananku moro namaskar. Cuttack sahar pabitra mati ku moro pranam.

While addressing the rally, Modi blamed Odisha Government on the ongoing Mahanadi row. Modi said that the State Government itself has admitted on the Assembly that 50% of Mahanadi water flows into sea. The State Government has not utilized the unused water for the benefit of the poor and the farmers and now staged Mahanadi Banchao Andolan & Mahanadi Surakhya Abhijan to mislead people.

He also criticized the Odisha Government for not taking benefits from other five major rivers in the State for which the Centre has prepared blue print to take up projects worth Rs 80,000 crores to be spent on irrigation.

Further targeting the State government, the Prime Minister said the Centre under the initiative of  Minister Nitin Gadkari tried to solve the Mahanadi water sharing dispute, but the Odisha Government did not cooperate at all.
