MoS Agriculture Gajendra S Shekhawat arrives in Odisha

Insight Bureau: As announced earlier, Union MoS Agriculture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has arrived in Bhubaneswar to take stock of the situation in pest affected areas and assess the damage caused to farmers in the state.

While responding to Odisha Agriculture Minister Dr. Damodar Rout’s “uninvited guest” remarks, Gajendra S Shekhawat said Centre has every right to intervene when things go from bad to worse.

“Centre is concerned about the plight of farmers in Odisha. I am here to review the drought, crop loss and pest menace situation in the state and get a reality check. We will make sure the farmers are not affected much”, he said.

The Minister also suggested that Odisha Govt must consider loan waiver on the lines of other neighbouring states to give immediate relief to the farmers. A high level BJP delegation met the Minister and submitted a memorandum to him on the plight of farmers in Odisha.
