Muslims celebrate Eid in Odisha; Hajj tragedy casts a shadow

Cuttack, Sep 25: Id-Ul-Zuha has been celebrated with peacefully across Odisha including Cuttack. Muslim brother and sisters wish to each other on the special occasion. At the time of Id-Ul-Zuha Hajj is one of the most celebrated events in the Islamic Calendar.

Odisha Governor Dr. S C Jamir has congratulated to Muslim brethren on the occasion of Id-Ul- Zuha.  In his message, the Governor conveyed his greetings and best wishes to all Muslim brothers and sisters.

In his message the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that Id-Ul-Zuha symbolizes sacrifice, faith and devotion and imbibe the spirit of universal love and brotherhood. He appealed the people to work unitedly for peace, progress and prosperity of the State.

Where Id-Ul-Zuha is celebrating occasion for Muslims on the other hand more than 700 people have been died in the stamped during HAJJ at Mina near Mecca on Thursday. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Friday informed that 14 injured Indians are undergoing treatment in Saudi Arabia and one person from Odisha, identified as Mohammad Abdul Hamid, is undergoing treatment at Mina Armed Forces Hospital.

The Odisha Hajj Committee has opened a 24-hour helpline at its office in Cuttack to provide updates and information to the anxious family members and kin of the pilgrims. The numbers are 0671-2301185, 0671- 2306038.
