Naveen to visit Sambalpur to review Jaundice Situation

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will visit Sambalpur on December 24 to review the situation arisen out of jaundice menace. He will be accompanied by Chief Secretary Shri Gokul Chandra Pati. The jaundice situation has threatened to go beyond control.

At least 17 people have died so far due to jaundice in Sambalpur region. Around 1,270 people have been affected so far. According to Health Secretary Arati Ahuja, the focus is on providing clean drinking water to all people in the affected region. Apart from that, the patients will get free medicines and treatment apart from other health benefits.

Although only 3-4 cases are reported daily as compared to the 20-30 cases reported daily earlier, the situation is still grave and it may take a few more weeks to control the situation. The official toll stands at 17, but some unofficial reports put the death toll at 21.
