NCST Chairman to discuss action on Gumudumaha killings with Chief Secy today

The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) Chairman Rameswar Oraon will meet chief secretary AP Padhi on Saturday to discuss the steps taken by the State government on the killing of five innocent tribals including an infant in police firing near Gumudumaha village of Kandhamal district on July 8.

Oraon will also discuss about the issues of rehabilitation and resettlement of the families who were displaced by the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).

Oraon had visited Gumudumaha village on July 13, and asked the State government to take action against the Special Operation Group (SOG) jawans for allegedly killing the innocent people. He also recommended to increase the compensation amount which is offered the kin of the deceased.
