On August 30, a bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar asked the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) to submit a status report on the project and the Office Memorandum on September 5.
Notably, both Odisha and Chhattisgarh Governments have been opposing to the Polavaram project as the project will submerge vast tracts of forest lands, revenue villages in the states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
