The Principal Secretary, Home Sri Asit Kumar Tripathy D.G. Police Sri Sanjeeb Marik and Secretaries of concerned departments present in the meeting appraised the Secretary General about the preventive and rehabilitative measures that Govt has already put in place viz. district child protection units, integrated anti human trafficking units, women & child desk in police stations, setting up of dedicated Police Station for women, child line system, helpline, SHGs, Swadhara Griha, short stay homes, legal aid committees, mental health care institutions, State level coordination meeting for anti trafficking and child labor prevention, juvenile home, jail reforms, child homes and the like.
Replying to a media query after the meeting, the Secretary General said that State administration has taken expeditious steps in addressing the issues raised in various cases lodged at NHRC. Sri Mohanty also added the number of pending cases has been reduced to a large extent and Odisha is ahead of many other States in implementation of the recommendations of NHRC.
The Principal Secretary Health & Family Welfare Smt Arati Ahuja, Secretary W & CD Sri Vishal Dev NHRC Rapporteer Sri Damodar Sadangi along with senior officers from various departments participated in the discussions.
