The Odisha Pavilion in the ‘New York Times Travels Show’ in America, a three-day tourism extravaganza has become the centre of attraction. The fair that started on 23rd this month and attended by Sri Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister, Tourism & Culture, Odisha and Dr. Aravinda K. Padhee, Commissioner –cum-Secretary of the Deptt, has stimulated substantial interest among foreign tourists, scholars and students along with Non resident Indians on the tourism potential of the state.
The show that include more than 160 Stalls on behave of about 100 countries of five continents has remarkable exhibits on tourism potential of Odisha. The theme of Nabakalebar (New incarnation) of Lord Jagannath, Universally revered deity has taken centre stage in the show.
The work of internationally acclaimed sand artist Padmashree Sudarshan Pattnaik has become the connoisseur of all eyes in the show. Sri Panda, the minister and Dr. Padhee, the Commissioner have emphasized on the significance of with views of increasing revenue and popularity of Odisha’s tourism attraction.
Air India and India tourism also participate in the show. The show includes art and artifacts , tourist spots and other heritage materials of the States. Besides, Bhitarkanika Sanctuary and Asia’s largest brackish water lack Chilika, Buddhist heritage of the State have got appropriate forum for international appreciation. The show will be instrumental in the growth of revenue mobilization in the sector along with increasing tourist inflow in the State, it is expected.
