Odia Language Issue: Assembly adjourns till 3PM

Odisha Assembly was today adjourned till 3PM after an adjournment motion moved by Congress demanding a discussion on the Odia language issue, which was rejected by Odisha Assembly Speaker Niranjan Pujari.

Official language issue has started in Assembly in Thursday, on the birth anniversary of Madhusudan Das and the assembly was adjourned twice on that issue.

The Congress members shouted slogans for use of Odia in all official communication. Deputy Chief of Congress Naba Das said we want a public language status for Odia with certain amendments to the ‘Orissa Official Language Act, 1954’.

Speaker Niranjan Pujari first adjourned the House till 12:15 PM and later till 3 PM.
