Congress members were seeking amendments in the bill but due to their absence the bill was passed in the house without any protest. The Minister said that the objective of the bill was to impart quality education by allowing Birla Academy of Art and Culture in the state.
The Minister said the proposed university, Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), would start the academic activities in two years and the state government has already provided 29.4 acres of land over which construction work has already been started at Gothapatna in Bhubaneswar.
