Odisha Bhasha Andolan: Poet Gajanan Mishra joins on Day 2

With an aim of seeking governance of the state in Odia language as per the 1954 Language Act, the “Black Flag March” of  Bhasha Andolan, Odisha, has entered second Day on Wednesday.

Noted Odia poet Gajanan Mishra, who had sat for 8 days in a hunger strike at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar in 2015 in this regard, joined the Black Flag March.

Besides Mishra, Editor of The News Insight Sagar Satapathy, journalist Pabitra Maharatha, and social activist Tusharkant Satapathy took out the silent ‘Black Flag March’ from the gate of Odisha Assembly and culminated near the Madhu Babu’s statue at the Governor’s Square in the capital city.

The marchers were greeted by other members of Bhasha Andolan, including Bhasha Andolan President Subhas Chandra Pattanayak, Journalist Pradyumna Satpathy, Ajay Jena, Nanda kishore Samal, Subrat Chhatoi, Rajyabardhan Jena, Sanjay Panda, Kiran Sahoo, Manoj Biswal, Sanjeev Patri, Ashis Behera, Nabakishor Pradhan, Kamal Nayak, Pramod Fev, Sabyasachi Satapathy, Swadesh Das, Pratap Sahoo, Bichitra Mahapatra, Kapileswar Khamari, Raj Sekhar Laha, Nirmal Behera, Ashok Das, Kishor Ch. Paikrai and Khageswar Bala.

Notably, The Bhasha Andolan restarted its ‘Black Flag March’ on Tuesday as the Odisha government failed to add the punishment provision in Orissa Official Language Act 1954.
