The BJP termed the VAT hike on fuel prices as an anti-people measure and questioned the need for doing so at a time when the oil companies are reducing the petrol and diesel prices to pass the benefits to the consumers.
Recently, the Odisha Government hiked the VAT on petrol and diesel from 20% to 23%. As a result, the petrol prices went up by Rs 1.49 per litre in the state. The diesel prices witnessed a rise of Rs 1.33 per litre.
