According to the petitioner, Mithun Baliarsingh (16) of Rahandia village under Kanas police limits of Puri is the victim, who lost his three fingers of right hand at a company in Maharashtra’s Sangli district. Mithun was trafficked to Maharashtra by two middle men of that village in July and engaged in Uday Industries under Kupwad MIDC police station.
He was forced to work hard in that company and even made to operate sand processing machine though he had no knowledge how to operate it. In mid September, he had had sustained serious injuries on his right hand and admitted to the local hospital, where the doctors made an amputation of three fingers. His family members were ignorant about the incident.
The mother of the victim has lodged an FIR in Kanas Police Station and also approached the District Labour Officer of Puri, but in vain, alleged Akhand. The Commission has ordered the District Labour Officer and District Magistrate of Puri and District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police at Sangli to submit an action taken report within four weeks. The Petitioner has demanded action against the erring people as well as compensation and rehabilitation for the victim.
