ONI Bureau: Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved food and procurement policy for kharif marketing season 2018-19 today.
As the paddy procurement season for kharif-2018 would start from November 1, the State Government has set a target to procure 37 lakh metric ton rice, for the season 2018-19, however in terms to paddy this comes to around 55 lakh MT, informed Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on Monday.
The Cabinet has approved that the money will be credited to farmers’ bank accounts within 24-72 hrs of procurement of their sale of paddy to the Government.
The Kharif paddy procurement will be procured between November 2018 to April 2019, while Rabi paddy will be procured from May to June 2019.
State Cabinet also approved the implementation of ‘Ama Gaon Ama Bikash’ scheme and ‘Odisha Agriculture and Food Production Service Rules, 2018’.
