Odisha Cabinet to reduce VAT on Pulses from 5% to 1%

Odisha Cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to reduce Value Added Tax (VAT) on pulses from 5% to 1%.

Official sources said that, very soon government will reduce VAT on other edible items like wheat and wheat products, oil and sugar.

Finance Minister Pradip Amat held a meeting with Federation of All Odisha Traders’ Association (FAOTA) in this regard.

It is to be noted that, earlier the Centre asked State governments to exempt VAT, mandi fees and other local taxes on pulses.
