Odisha celebrates Rasagola Dibasa with great fanfare

ONI Bureau: Rasagolas have been associated for centuries with the Jagannath Temple in Puri and Rasagola Dibasa, a day which is of great significance to the people of Odisha.

On the last day of the Ratha Jatra, called Niladri Bije, the Lord offers Rasagolas to Goddess Laxmi to gain entrance into the Temple. That day is now marked by Odias as “Rasagola Dibasa” or Rasagol Day every year.

While West Bengal got the geographical indication (GI) tag last year for its Rasgulla, Odisha has also applied for the GI tag for its local variety.

#RasagolaDibasa is one-of-the-top-trends-on-Twitter today as twitterati sharing details about the sweetmeat.
