Odisha CM directs collectors to distribute ration cards to deserving by Jan 15

Bhubaneswar, Jan 13: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed district collectors to distribute ration cards to deserving families by January 15. He was reviewing implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) through video conferencing at State Secretariat here on Tuesday.

Chief Minister directed the collectors to exclude all ineligible beneficiaries from the list prepared under NFSA. Food Supply and Consumer Welfare minister Sanjay Dasburma said that the collectors would take final decision by January 15 over expulsion on ineligible beneficiaries.

As per reports, around 52,659 families have been applied for exclusion, while the department has approved around 30,272 applications.

Odisha government implemented NFSA across the state in two phases; the first phase was rolled out in 14 districts on November 25 and in 16 districts in the second phase on December 20.
