ONI Bureau: Much awaited Gurupriya Bridge over Janbai River in Malkangiri district that will connect the cut-off areas of the district to the mainland, inaugurated by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.
Gurupriya Bridge will make easier for locals in 10 panchayats in Malkangiri district who earlier solely depend on water transportation.
As perr report, 910 metres long Gurupriya Bridge was constructed with an investment of over Rs 170 crore. Over 30,000 people of around 151 village will now connect with the mainland.
However, Black flag shown by Congress workers in Malkangiri opposing Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit. Locals of 3 panchayats of Chitrakonda – Kopatuti , Paplur and Kurumanur also staged protest alleging non-issuance of caste certificate to students in the region.
