Odisha CM meets PM Modi; Discusses Demonetisation, Mahanadi Issue

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

Patnaik has asked centre to direct Chhattisgarh to stop construction of barrages on Mahanadi River and demanded constitution of Mahanadi Water Dispute Tribunal.

The Chief Minister also discussed various problems faced by the common people due to demonetisation.

During the discussion with the Prime Minister, Naveen Patnaik has made following demands:

  • Exempt tribals living in scheduled areas from submission of PAN while making deposits above Rs 50,000.
  • Allow DCCBs to exchange and accept demonetised notes.
  • Start mobile banks and temporary counters in rural areas to ensure transactions in unbanked areas.
  • Open Bank branches in all 4401 unbanked GPs of State by March 2019.
