Odisha CM urges PM Modi to allow DCCBs to accept Demonetised Notes

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to direct Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to allow District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) to exchange and accept demonitised Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes like other banks across the country.

In his letter to PM Modi the Chief Minister wrote, the RBI’s decision, not allowing DCCBs to accept old notes is causing misery to farmers, farm labourers and poor people in rural areas in Odisha as over 44 lakh farmer families have taken agricultural loans. It will also hamper paddy procurement across the State.
