Odisha-Delhi Ranji Tie ends in Draw, Basant Mohanty takes Hattrick

Pacer Basant Mohanty, who has been performing consistently over the last three years, took the first hat-trick of his first class career, but failed to prevent Delhi from taking three points in the drawn Ranji Trophy tie at KIIT Stadium, Bhubaneswar.

As Delhi took the first innings lead, they got three points, while Odisha received just one point. In reply to Delhi’s first innings total of 311, Odisha resumed at 195/4, but bowled out for 217, conceding the lead. Natraj Behera (62) and Anurag Sarangi (76) were the top scorers. Pradeep Sangwan took seven wickets.

In the second innings, Delhi batted aggressively and posted 193/9 in just 31.3 overs. Dhruv Shorey (62), Gautam Gambhir (54) and Nitish Rana (52) were the top scorers. Basant Mohanty took a hattrick in the 30th over by removing Puneet Bisht, Subodh Bhati and Pulkit Narang. He took 6 wickets. Dhiraj Singh took 2 wickets.

Chasing a victory target of 288, Odisha finished at 88/3 and the match ended in a draw. Natraj Behera (35) and Rajesh Dhupar (26) were the top scorers. Pulkit Narang took two wickets.
