Odisha Government admits 41 Farmer Suicide Deaths in State

While over 50 farmers have committed suicide across the state as per the unofficial figure, the Odisha Government has admitted 41 deaths till date.

Special Relief Commissioner G.V.V. Sarma has confirmed this today. However, the government did not admit that the suicides were triggered by crop failure.

The farmers’ suicide, which began in September, continued unabated even today. Bargarh remains worst-hit with 15 suicide cases. Bolangir reported four suicides, while Sambalpur and Nuapada reported 3 farmer suicides each. Western Odisha is reeling under severe drought crisis.
