Odisha Government orders closure of all Schools till April 20

In the wake of unprecedented heatwave conditions in the state, the Odisha government has ordered all schools to remain shut till 20th April, 2016. The government will decide on the reopening of schools after reviewing the situation.

The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has further clarified that the school authorities will accommodate the examinations during morning or evening hours, if they find appropriate. But, classes will remain suspended.

At least 17 towns in Odisha recorded over 40 degrees C today with Bhubaneswar turning out to be the hottest city in the state at 45.8 degrees C. It’s an all-time record for Bhubaneswar. Meanwhile, the sunstroke death toll has gone up to 19.
