Odisha Governor lays stress on utilization of Energy, creativity of Tribal People

Tribal artisans of Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh and Odisha participating in National Tribal Craft Mela met Governor Dr. S.C. Jamir at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.

In a special programme, arranged for the purpose Governor and First Lady of the state Alemla Jamir appreciated crafts of the artisans on the display.

Items on display included Bamboo craft, wood craft and lacquer craft of Andhra Pradesh, wooden craft, Oraon textile, jewellery, metal craft and bamboo craft of Jharkhand, Iron craft, Godna painting,  textile of Chhatisgarh, tribal jewellery, tribal textile, lacquer craft, sabai grass craft, paddy craft, terracotta, appliqué work, painting, palm engraving, Dhokra etc of Odisha.

In an interactive session artisans expressed their experiences of their art and trade. Governor took keen interest in their art and craft.

Speaking to the tribal artisans, Governor stressed upon creation of conductive atmosphere for proper utilization of their creativity. For development of tribal community and mainstreaming them, provision of basic facilities like connectivity, education and health should be on the top of development agenda.

Based on the special needs of the community, special programmes are to be prepared. Governor called upon the field functionaries to work for the development of tribal people with commitment and dedication.
